Plot Summary[]

Episode Recap[]

The Cyborg team highjack a Black Ghost airplane over the South Pole and it turns out that the pilots are holding a young woman hostage. Her name is Cynthia and her father is a scientist. He has left her alone for several years to complete an evil weapon that the Black Ghost has tricked him into constructing. The heroes infiltrate the base when the leader of Black Ghost activates the weapon. It emits a high-frequency sound that almost disables the Cyborg’s. With things looking bleak, 006 burrow under the ice, thereby cracking it, and cause the machine to explode.

  • While the Mad Machine was activated, all the 00 Cyborgs experienced extreme pain and some had their powers malfunctioning from the device. 007 was seen shapeshifting randomly, among his transformations, he briefly became a child. This is a possible reference to his change into a child during the 1960s anime and films.
  • The words "Mad Machine" would later resurface in another Ishinomori work, Android Kikaider. Mitsuko in the manga and anime angrily called Jiro a "mad machine" after he unintentionally attacked her while under Professor Gil's control.
  • While only 004, 007, and 009 went on the mission in the manga, the entire team is involved in this adaptation.
  • Dr. Findor and his daughter Cynthia are based off of the "Dr. Dolphin" character and his daughter from the source chapter. However, Dr. Findor has two functioning eyes, while Dr. Dolphin was depicted with one eye. Dolphin's daughter in the manga was originally named "Iruka", however later printings (save for the Shotaro World and MF Comics reprints) have the name "Cynthia" put in its place.
